BSA Teams Up With Outdoor Retailer to Give Kids a Great Outdoor Experience

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, the premier trade event featuring the best of the outdoor recreation market’s industry manufacturers and top retail buyers, has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America to bring CampOR to Outdoor Retailer families.

CampOR, powered by the BSA, is set to provide boys and girls ages 6-16 with opportunities to experience the best of the outdoors with fun, informative, and safe daily sessions, and will provide retail attendees with a free childcare option during Outdoor Retailer show hours, allowing them to focus on their business at the show. This year’s CampOR is booked as it is set to play host to more than 100 kids each of the four days.

This opportunity is exclusive and free to all Outdoor Retailer attendees, days 1 – 4 of the show, Wednesday – Saturday, August 3 – 6, running the same hours as the show. The camp is held on property owned by the BSA’s Great Salt Lake Council, located in Millcreek Canyon about 25 minutes from the Salt Palace Convention Center. This pristine property has a lake, swimming pool, shooting sports facilities, STEM programs, high and low ropes course, conservation programs, craft areas, and food service. A full camp staff will be on hand and excited to manage the program’s logistical and transportation needs, as well as  the daily activities for the attending youth.

“We are excited to host CampOR again this year,” said John Stewart, the BSA’s Director, Corporate Engagement and Sustainability. “Providing a platform for kids to enjoy the outdoors and simply have fun is all part of the Scouting experience. This summer alone Scouting will have more than 1 million youth across the country attending various camps, learning about STEM, challenging themselves, seeing how conservation matters, and simply enjoying the outdoor classroom of nature. We are proud of the fact that we introduce more families to the outdoors than any other youth organization in the world.”

“The Boy Scouts of America have been an outstanding partner to Outdoor Retailer in past years. This partnership allows us to support our attendees by providing them with a free and easy way to manage both their business and their family lives, which many times goes hand-in-hand for our specialty retailers,” said Marisa Nicholson, VP and Show Director. “We are always looking for ways to make the show productive and beneficial for our attendees. This is just another way we are able to add value for our retailers.”

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market will stage August 3-6, 2016, at the Salt Palace, Salt Lake City, Utah. For more information on the event, visit www.outdoorretailer.com.
