Eli Manning Presents Award to Northern New Jersey Council Scout

E71A8742New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning honored Boy Scout Wyatt B. on Tuesday night with the National Medal of Merit Award for his incredible heroism and courage in saving his father’s life.

The Scout sprung into action while on a family trip to the beach when his father was caught in a rip tide last August. His Scouting skills and emergency preparedness kicked in, saving his father’s life and returning both back to safety.

“Wyatt was able to get ahead of me and out of the rip tide, but he made sure to keep tabs on me. As he was taught in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, he kept calm in an emergency and he tried to keep the victim, me, calm too,” Wyatt’s father Jim told WABC-TV New York.

Manning presented the award to Wyatt in front of more than 600 attendees at the Northern New Jersey Council‘s Prepared for Life Dinner. The event also raised over $500,000 to support local Scouts.

Congratulations to Wyatt on his amazing recognition! Head to WABC-TV New York for the complete story.
