Why This Eagle Scout Is an Everyday Hero

Whether a Scout is saving a life or serving his community through an Eagle Scout project, Scouts are heroes in ways big and small. So when more than 500 people gathered to recognize those whose bravery and kindness have made a difference to the community, it’s no surprise an Eagle Scout was among the honorable few. 

In collaboration with Catholic Charities, Christian O., collected 400 pairs of dress shoes for homeless men. His commitment to serving others earned him the Youth Good Samaritan award for heroes under 18 at the Southern Nevada Red Cross Everyday Heroes awards ceremony. 

“Our youngest award winner sets an example for all of us,” announcer and Vice President of Southwest Gas Chris Sohus proclaimed.

Emblazoned with countless patches and his new medal, Christian proudly donned the Scout uniform – yet to Christian, the uniform represented more than his achievements. Earning the Eagle Scout rank was a promise to his late father
