Eagle Scout’s Act Of Kindness Keeps On Giving

A story from Boys’ Life.

BSA projectBack in 2009, Bryce Thornton had an idea to send a care package to a U.S. soldier serving overseas.

He quickly realized that one care package wouldn’t be enough. Why not send more?

Since then, Bryce has helped send nearly 4,000 packages to soldiers fighting in Afghanistan through his Supporting Freedom organization.

One serviceman was so impressed with Bryce’s act of kindness that he flew a flag in Bryce’s honor while stationed in Afghanistan. This spring, he came back home and presented the flag to Bryce at a ceremony.

Bryce, now an 18-year-old Eagle Scout, will attend Oregon State University this fall on a scholarship from the Naval Reserve Training Corp. Only 10 such scholarships are awarded each year.
